Iconic Red Bird Shopping Center Sold

Located right behind Schenley Park, the Red Bird shopping center has been a local part of the community for decades, anchored by favorites like Milam’s Market, Walgreens, Matsuri, and more. The center was recently sold to Asana Partners for $62.1 million.

Red Bird’s history runs deep in the area. Opened in the late 1950s, the center has anchored the Bird Road and Red Road retail corridor for generations. Its early tenants included supermarkets like Grand Union and Kwik Chek, and the space later became a Piggly Wiggly before evolving into today’s Milam’s Market, the grocery anchor that opened there in 1984.

The center remains fully open and operating, with tenants like Gilbert’s Bakery, Orion Fuels, Ace Hardware, and more continuing to serve local shoppers. While Asana Partners has not yet announced redevelopment plans, speculation continues about possible future changes to the property.
