Preserving the Character of Schenley Park
One of the goals of Save Schenley Park has always been to preserve the unique character, history, and quality of life that make our neighborhood so special.
Last fall, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners approved legislation sponsored by Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis directing the County Mayor to conduct a comprehensive neighborhood planning process for the Schenley Park community.
The initiative recognizes Schenley Park as one of Miami-Dade County's most distinctive neighborhoods, known for its tree-lined streets, architectural character, and strong sense of community. The planning process is intended to give residents a voice in shaping the future of the neighborhood while exploring ways to preserve its historic, architectural, and aesthetic qualities for generations to come.
Commissioner Milian Orbis stated:
"Schenley Park is one of Miami-Dade County's most distinctive neighborhoods, defined by its tree-lined streets, beautiful homes, and strong sense of community. As redevelopment continues across our County, it is vital that we protect the charm and integrity of historic neighborhoods like Schenley Park while giving residents a direct voice in shaping their future."
This effort represents an important step toward ensuring that future growth and development respect the qualities that have made Schenley Park a cherished community for nearly a century.
